After the first week of Free Agency in the NFL, the New England Patriots have made the absolute best of it. Going out and picking up defensive backs Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner solidified the secondary, which was getting beaten every week for big yardage. Revis will return to the AFC East and go against his former team, the New York Jets and most likely be covering their new acquisition, WR Eric Decker. Browner, who will miss the first 4 games of the season due to the NFL’s substance abuse policy, is coming off a Super Bowl win with the Seattle Seahawks. Both are still in their primes and will add experience to a young secondary.

Also this week, the Patriots went out and resigned Julian Edelman and signed free agent Brandon Lafell to get to very solid and reliable wide receivers for Tom Brady to throw to. Edelman, who was Brady’s favorite target this past season, was visiting other teams, but came back to Foxboro, which he announced via his twitter account (@edelman11). Lafell, a former Carolina Panther signed a 3 year deal with the Patriots and will add the big receiver, they have been missing since Randy Moss was traded. At 6’3, Lafell towers over Edelman and Danny Amendola and will be able to go over the top of most of the corner backs that will be covering him.
