Just in case you have been living under a rock for the past year, than you should know that Deadpool 2 is out!! This is opening weekend and it kicked some serious ass and not just the regular films, but it absolutely whooped Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity Wars ass as well. With an opening weekend of $125 Million which is the highest selling comedy sequel opening weekend of all time. Not only that, but it also had the second highest opening for an R-rated film behind only its predecessor. It’s always hard to beat the original, but this sequel came damn close to toppling the original Deadpool and missed it by a couple of million dollars.
Ryan Reynolds is back as the anti-hero, merc with a mouth in Deadpool 2 and is even funnier than the original. There are so many digs at the Marvel and DC universe that you expect it and it all starts with one of the best. We won’t say what it since not everyone has seen it, but let’s just say that it’s something you need to see to understand. There were some scenes and lines of the script that had me bent over laughing and trying not to snort in the theater. Add in some nice surprise characters and the debut of Peter and you have a winner. If you don’t know who Peter is than you need to get your ass in front of the tv, movie screen, computer etc and look him up because you will love the character. When you include some old favorites like Domino ( Zazie Beetz), Bedlam (Terry Crews), Zeitgeist (Bill Skarsgard) to name just a few on top of the returning Colossus, Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), Weasel (TJ Miller) and Vanessa (Morena Baccarin) and you have a cast that is funny as shit and provide so much action and comedy that you will want to watch it a few more times.
You may wonder why I didn’t mention Cable (Josh Brolin) above with the rest of the cast. Cable is one of my favorite characters of all time and Brolin brought him to life in a way that I couldn’t have imagined. The only thing that I thought could’ve been better was his hair color… it should’ve been white. That is my only gripe with the film version of Nathan Summers aka Cable. Seeing the on-screen interactions of Deadpool and Cable was so damn funny and was much needed after the first film. Brolin made the perfect Cable for this series and I can not wait to see him in an X-Force film. Brolin is having one hell of a month so far with Infinity War as Thanos and now as Cable in Deadpool 2.
If you have been contemplating seeing Deadpool 2 and not sure if it will live up to the hype, than let me just say that the hype didn’t live up to Deadpool 2. This film was almost perfect with a few small things that could’ve been better but I absolutely loved it. You need to see it and see it now!! Find your closest theater and go see it, as long as you are old enough to see it that is. Not a child’s film whatsoever.
