Cartoons and video games are what everyone loves nowadays and actor Adam McArthur is living the dream of voicing the mediums that people of all ages enjoy on a daily basis, including us here at WINGMAN. With the fourth and final season of his hit show “Star vs. the Forces of Evil” the young actor is ready make it the best season yet. His character Marco Diaz has evolved over the past three seasons and has some new sides that no one has seen yet and it’s very exciting. McArthur has been doing voice-overs for quite some time, whether it be shows or games, his voice has entertained so many fans and will continue to do so.
“Star vs. The Forces of Evil” has been a fantastic show for the past three seasons and it all starts with the cast. With other incredible actors working alongside McArthur in the likes of Jeffrey Tambor, Rider Strong, Jenny Slate and so many others. On a recording stage, actors are usually recording individually but when they all get to work together on certain episodes, it’s the most fun for the cast and since the young actor is a people person, he does love those episodes. Trying to do voice work for two characters that are going against each other is always interesting and could be difficult, but McArthur makes the characters sound completely different.
Having voiced roles on some of the most popular shows, McArthur has been a part of “The Lebrons”, “The Adventures of Puss in Boots” and the long time hit show “Star Wars: The Clone Wars”. With ‘Clone Wars’ possibly making a come back, having McArthur reprise his role of Prince Lee-Char would be a great addition to the show. McArthur doesn’t just do shows, he has been working on video games as well, including the recent hit “Far Cry 5” which is also a favorite of so many viewers.
When he isn’t in a soundbooth, McArthur owns an event photography business called The Bus and Booth Company where they use different types of photo booths including ones that are built out of vintage VW buses. McArthur also practices multiple different martial arts and is a part-time ninja that keeps his mind focused, which could also help his work as an actor in the future.
Check out Adam McArthur in the fourth and final season of “Star vs. the Forces of Evil” on March 10th. But for now, check out what he has to say about his career below!
WINGMAN: The fourth and final season of “Star vs. the Forces of Evil” is coming out March 10th… what can the fans expect out of Marco Diaz in this final season?
ADAM McARTHUR: The fans are going to get to see a lot of new sides to Marco! As the stakes get higher in this new season, we’ll see him challenged in a lot of ways no one could have seen coming! It’s super exciting!
WINGMAN: You have such a fantastic group of fellow actors on board for the show including Rider Strong, Jenny Slate, Jeffrey Tambor to name just a few. Talk about them a little bit, how much interacting do you do while recording?
McARTHUR:The other actors are amazing! I’ve had the opportunity to work with Eden Sher and Rider Strong the most. We typically record all of our episodes individually, however there have been a few episodes like “Friendenemies” where we’ll record together. I’m a people person so anytime I can act across from one of my other cast mates, I absolutely love it.
WINGMAN: You do other voice overs on the show as well like Big Chicken and a few others. What’s it like playing multiple characters within the same show at the same time? Do you ever forget what character you are voicing?
McARTHUR: It’s so fun playing other characters besides Marco. The challenge is making sure no one watching has any idea that it’s me! It’s pretty easy to not forget who I’m voicing. It’s rare the characters will interact, although I did have a fight scene in the first season where Marco and Big Chicken went at it! Nothing like fighting yourself for a paycheck! Hahaha…
WINGMAN: “Far Cry 5” is out and you have some voice work in the new DLC that is out, Lost on Mars. Have you been excited to play a game just because you have worked on it?
McARTHUR: I’m a huge fan of video games and cartoons. Just because I’ve worked on something doesn’t mean I’m too cool to watch it and geek out. I love playing the games I work on and similarly, love watching the shows I’ve been a part of as well! I love watching Star 😀
WINGMAN: The “Final Fantasy” games are highly addictive, and people live and die by them. How much of a gamer are you, if at all?
McARTHUR: I’ve been pretty into first person shooters pretty much since “Halo” came out on the original Xbox. This was back before Xbox Live was even a thing and we had to hook up our xbox to a laptop and go to these super shady websites where we could play against other people. Right now, I play “PUBG” pretty regularly and I can’t wait for “Kingdom Hearts 3” to come out!
WINGMAN: You have worked on such a wide array of animated shows but throw in some live action like “Krampus”…which do you prefer, live action or voice over and why?
McARTHUR: I love both voice over and on camera! It’s like exercising different muscle groups at the gym. Both are valuable and ultimately an expression of creativity. I’ve been fortunate enough to do both and I’m looking forward to what comes next.
WINGMAN: I did read recently that you are working on experiental marketing. What is it and how could it be put to use with your business, The Booth and Bus Company?
McARTHUR: Ah, yes. Experiential Marketing. This is when you create an experience for the end-user that essentially causes such a buzz that they post on their social media and tell their friends about it. It does all the marketing for you! My company, The Booth & Bus Company, does exactly this. We’re an events-based company specializing in photo activations (like photo booths!). Much different than other companies, ours are all about aesthetic and a complete experience. We have photo booths built inside vintage VW buses. When you step inside you’re transported back to what feels like a vintage living room. It gets everyone talking!
WINGMAN: Can you elaborate on what your Instagram says which is “part time ninja?” Very intrigued and how do I become one?
McARTHUR: I’m happy to elaborate… at this point, I’m too busy to be a full-time ninja, so I’ve just opted for part-time status. If you’d like to be a ninja, you’ll have to fill out an online application and send your initiation fee of $650 c/o Marco Diaz to an address I’ll send you privately. Once you’re approved, your first test will be defending a sneak attack. It’s a lot of fun and extremely hard work!
